October 4, 2020: Communion Service

Welcome to our communion service together on this World Communion Sunday! We gather as a body of Christ here in Morden, part of the Body of Christ around the world. We gather in our own homes, separated physically, yet united in spirit, in the Spirit of Christ.

To participate in communion, please have ready some bread or crackers and a drink, enough to share with all who are participating with you. The words for the songs are available below the video if you do not have the song books and wish to sing along.

Call to Worship: STJ 3 Jesus Calls Us Here to Meet Him vv. 1,4

Jesus calls us here to meet him
as, through word and song and prayer,
we affirm God’s promised presence
where his people live and care.
Praise the God who keeps his promise;
praise the Son who calls us friends;
praise the Spirit who, among us,
to our hopes and fears attends.

Jesus calls us to his table
rooted firm in time and space,
where the church in earth and heaven
finds a common meeting place.
Share the bread and wine, his body;
share the love of which we sing;
share the feast for saints and sinners
hosted by our Lord and King.

Communion Song: HWB 471 Eat This Bread

Eat this bread, drink this cup,
come to me and never be hungry.
Eat this bread, drink this cup,
trust in me and you will not thirst.

Sending Song: STJ 87 Put Peace into Each Other’s Hands vv. 1,3,5

Put peace into each other’s hands
and like a treasure hold it,
protect it like a candle flame,
with tenderness enfold it.

Put peace into each other’s hands
like bread we break for sharing;
look people warmly in the eye:
our life is meant for caring.

Put Christ into each other’s hands,
he is love’s deepest measure;
in love make peace, give peace a chance,
and share it like a treasure.
